The next game from Criterion Games is: Need For Speed Most Wanted

Today Electronic Arts revealed that the next Need For Speed title "Need For Speed Most Wanted" will be developed by Criterion Games.

EA 2012 Preview, EA's E3 press briefing sponsored by Origin™, will feature leading EA brands: Battlefield 3TM, Medal of Honor ™ , Crysis ® 3, Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, SimCityTM and highly-anticipated first looks at Dead SpaceTM 3 and Need for SpeedTM Most Wanted from Criterion Games. The event will feature never-before-seen video and gameplay for the biggest titles EA will unveil this year as well as titles not yet announced, including a new social title for Facebook®. The briefing can be viewed live exclusively on SPIKE TV on Monday, June 4 at 4:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT or streamed at www.ea.com/e3.

I'd like to take a moment

to ponder the final hour or so when I have no idea what Need for Speed Most Wanted is. Right now there are many possibilities, mostly remote I know. The 'Open World' bit worries me the most, but I remember the demo of Most Wanted making it the most appealing of the NFS titles to me.

I feel like they are drifting (pardon the pun) back towards earlier Burnouts if you take the long arc of their games into consideration. With each game I hope they are allowed to do more and more crashing to the licensed cars, until we get back to the spectacular mid-race crasheds of B3.

Maybe you'll be able to use this new Smart Glass thing as a GPS when you get lost ;)

"Instead Kinect is used differently this time round. In what has to be one of the coolest implementations of voice recognition ever, you can just shout out locations and Kinect will then plot them out on your in-car GPS. So say you want to go to the festival, just say it and then green arrows will appear on the road directing you the right way. Very simple but very useful indeed. For non-Kinect users the GPS will be accessible from the pause menu."

So this is the Playground/Turn 10 Forza Horizon, set in a Festival (Dirt 2 overtones maybe)
